The design of the « SAFEKIT® system » consists of a combination of three elements:
- One or several - in the case of a high tire operating pressure - flexible, puncture-resistant textile membrane made airtight with a gas-barrier coating. This membrane is attached only to its distant lateral edges, allowing it to be free and "floating" and therefore capable of moving laterally and vertically, even under a compressive force. That’s the heart of the idea…
- The meridian length of this membrane exceeds that of the inside of the tire, allowing it to accept and follow the deformation caused by any penetrating object with minimal resistance and not be punctured.
- This membrane is supported by a bed of ultralight lubricated spheres or any lubricating material, which greatly facilitates movement and prevents abrasion and heating of the assembly.
N.B. The friction ratio of the « SAFEKIT® system” is comparable to that of ball bearings…
